Using the Inventory

This article describes how to use the ModelOp UI as the central inventory for governing all use cases and models, including how a user can view all use cases and models across the enterprise in the ModelOp Center Governance Inventory.

Table of Contents

Business Models (“Use Case & Model Inventory”)

Clicking the “Inventory” from the main menu opens the Governance Inventory. The Inventory contains the full list of registered use cases and model implementations within ModelOp Center, regardless of the model type, model factory in which it was produced, current state of the model (registered vs. in QA vs. deployed).

Use Cases, Implementations and Monitors

As discussed in the article, ModelOp distinguishes between Use Cases and Implementations, and also offers Monitors that can be applied to calculate metrics for a given Implementation. The Inventory page allows the user to toggle between the Use Cases, Implementations, and Monitors that are managed within the system:

Search the Inventory

A user may search for a Use Case by Name or Tag by using the Search bar:

Note: This same search capability is also available on the Implementations and Monitors page.

Filter

A user can filter the models based on the filter categories on the right:

Note:

  • Click the “More Filters” button to apply additional filters, such as filtering by PII or PHI

  • Click the “Clear Filters” button to remove all filters

  • Filters are also available on the Implementations and Monitors Inventory pages

Custom Filters

A user may specifically search for Use Cases or Model Implementations by the custom metadata that is configured by the enterprise:

Enter the name of the field in the custom metadata and then the desired values to filter on:

Use Case and Implementations Lineage

A user may click on the “Expand” icon of any row to see the linkage between a Use Case, any Implementations on that use case, and any Snapshots (versions) for a given Implementation

Any of the above items are “clickable”, which will take the user to the respective Use Case (see page), Implementation (see page), or Snapshot (version for an Implementation).

Download an Inventory Extract

At any point, the list of Use Cases or Implementations can be downloaded as a CSV for offline reporting:

Note: The download feature works with or without filters applied, to allow for creating a custom Inventory Extract.

Implementations: Compare Models

Additionally, to compare one or more models, a user may select “Enable champion challenger” toggle button. This will expose the “Champion/Challenger” column, allowing the user compare two or models models using the “Champion/Challenger” check boxes. Champion/Challenger is an industry standard technique to compare the performance of competing model strategies, or the performance of a recently updated model against a previous version of the same model.

See the article for more details on how to use this feature to compare Models or Versions of the same model.
